Early years

Kunal Ravi Kemmu was born on May 25, 1983 in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India, to Kashmiri Pandit actors Ravi Kemmu and Jyoti Kemmu.[1] He has a younger sibling named Karishma Kemmu and is the eldest child of the couple. In his early years, he resided in Srinagar and attended Burn Hall School. However, as a Kashmiri Hindu, he relocated to Jammu after the Insurgency in Kashmir in the 1990s. His family later resided in the Mira Road neighbourhood of Mumbai, Maharashtra. After graduating from N. L. Dalmia High School in Mira Road, he continued his education at SVKM’s Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics in Vile Parle. Currently, he resides in Khar, Mumbai.

His grandfather, Moti Lal Kemmu (original surname spelling), is a Kashmiri playwright and recipient of several accolades from the government of Jammu and Kashmir: Rashtra Bhasa Prachar Samiti, Sahitya Akademi award in 1982 for his contribution to Kashmiri literature as a playwright, and Padma Shri honour for his contribution to Kashmiri literature

Career

Kunal debuted as a juvenile actor in the 1987 Doordarshan television series Gul Gulshan Gulfaam, directed by Ved Rahi. He made his film début in 1993’s Sir (film) by Mahesh Bhatt. As a juvenile actor, he starred in films such as Raja Hindustani, Zakhm, Bhai, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, and Dushman.

Mohit Suri directed the 2005 film Kalyug, in which he portrayed the male protagonist.[7][8] The basis of Kalyug was the pornographic industry. In 2007’s Traffic Signal, directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, he portrayed a street-smart moneylender who lends money to impoverished families but always receives it back with interest.

His second 2007 release, Dhol, featured him in the main role. In his solitary 2008 release, Superstar, he played two roles. In 2009, he starred in Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge and Jai Veeru. He appeared in the 2009 comedy-thriller 99. In the 2010 film Golmaal 3, he portrayed Laxman, a supporting character.

In the 2012 Mukesh Bhatt film Blood Money, he played the lead character of Kunal Kadam, an honest and diligent worker whose boss leads him into the dark side of the diamond trade. He co-starred in the Zombie comedy film Go Goa Gone, which was released on May 10, 2013. Both films were successful at the box office.

Kunal returned to the screen in 2015 with the suspense Bhaag Johnny, about a man who lives two lives with the assistance of a Jinn, portrayed by director Vikram Bhatt. The film’s production began in 2013, but it was not released until September 25, 2015, to divided reviews and modest box office returns.(Reference Required) Kunal appeared alongside Sumeet Vyas in the title role of the comedy film Guddu Ki Gun, which was his second release of the same year.

By virtue of his marriage to Khan, he is a member of the Pataudi family. Khan gave birth to their daughter Inaaya Naumi Khemu on September 29, 2017.
