Ragini Dwivedi Career

2009 marked Dwivedi’s acting debut in the Kannada film Veera Madakari. She was selected opposite Sudeep in this action-comedy adaptation of the Telugu film Vikramarkudu. The film was the year’s greatest commercial success. In the same year, she had a small role in the film Gokula. In 2010, she appeared in five films, including her Malayalam début in Kandhahar.

Dwivedi’s big break came in 2011 with the action film Kempegowda, co-starring Sudeep. She was nominated for the South Filmfare Award for leading female actress. In the same year, she appeared in comedies like Kalla Malla Sulla and Kaanchaana. Thuppa Beku Thuppa in Kalla Malla Sulla was shot on her and became one of the year’s greatest hits.

The first film released by Dwivedi in 2014 was a bilingual film titled Nimirndhu Nil in Tamil and Janda Pai Kapiraju in Telugu, her first Telugu film. Ragini IPS, her second film of the year, was released after a lengthy delay. Cast as a police officer, Ragini, the film signalled her departure from the glamorous roles for which she was known. However, the film opened to divided reviews from critics. However, it garnered her a second nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Namaste Madam, a remake of the 2002 Telugu film Missamma, was her next film. Critics praised her performance as Radhika, the chairperson of a multinational corporation portraying a seductress. In her first release of 2015, Shivam, she played a glamorous femme fatale alongside Upendra in a parallel protagonist role.

As of April 2016, Dwivedi has wrapped production. Ranachandi is currently filming with the Naane Next CM. She is also filming the multilingual film Amma by Faisal Saif. In order to prepare for her role in Naane Next CM, she lost 15 kilogrammes over the course of three months.
