Early Life
Uncle Luke, whose real name is Luther Roderick Campbell, is an American rapper, actor, record producer, and executive whose skills have brought him recognition and success in the music business. Born in Miami, Florida on December 22, 1960, he is a Capricorn. Given that his father was Jamaican and his mother was Bahamian, he is of both Jamaican and Bahamian ancestry. Out of five sons, Campbell was the youngest. He received his diploma from Miami Beach Senior High School in 1979.
Career
Before his music career taking off, Campbell worked in a variety of odd jobs. As his reputation as a promoter grew in 1984, he started managing the 2 Live Crew rap group after becoming aware of them through their song “Revelation.” After establishing Luke Skyywalker Records in 1986, Campbell formally joined the 2 Live Crew group in April of that same year and offered them a record deal. The group became famous in South Florida when they published their gold-certified debut studio album, “The 2 Live Crew is What We Are,” in that same year. In 1988, they released their second album, “Move Somethin’,” which peaked at number 68 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The R.I.A.A. double platinum-certified “As Nasty As They Wanna Be,” the third studio album by 2 Live Crew, in 1989. The District Court in South Florida had declared this CD to be legally obscene, but the decision was reversed. With 2 Live Crew, Campbell released “Banned in the U.S.A.” in 1990. His first solo album, “I Got Shit on My Mind,” was published in 1992. In addition to releasing six more solo albums, the rapper starred in “Luke’s Parental Advisory,” a V.H.1 sitcom, in 2008.

Being a very accomplished musician, Campbell’s personal life is widely known. In 2008, he wed Kristin Thompson; however, in 2020, she filed for divorce. Although the couple hasn’t yet filed for divorce, Campbell said at the time that he was surprised by the decision. Campbell is the father of five kids.
