Munaf Patel Biography: Former India pacer Munaf Patel, who turns 40 on July 12 (born in 1983), was a member of the team that won the 2011 World Cup. Early Years

Munaf Musa Patel was born in Ikhar, Gujarat, on July 12, 1983. Munaf Patel belonged to a poor household in which his father was the sole provider for Musa and Saeeda Patel. Therefore, he was constantly under duress to join his father at work.

Patel, who had begun to take his interest in cricket seriously, had unfortunately ceased playing in ninth grade. During the summer, Munaf worked as a tile labourer at a marble factory. Munaf Patel would go to tile factories to select the finest “export-quality” tiles, pack them into boxes, and receive Rs 35 for an eight-hour shift.

Kiran More, the Indian chairman of selectors, invited Munaf Patel to the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai in 2003 when he was 20 years old, before he had even played first-class cricket for Gujarat. There, his raw velocity drew the attention of visiting Australian captain Steve Waugh and former Australian fast bowler director Dennis Lillee. With the support of Sachin Tendulkar, he was transferred to Mumbai in late 2003 without ever having represented his native Gujarat.

The Rajasthan Royals signed him for the inaugural IPL season, during which he took 14 wickets and the Royals claimed the championship. Later, he moved to the Mumbai Indians, where he had his most productive season in 2011, taking 22 wickets, including a record-setting 5/21 against KXIP in Mohali.[2] Despite a low initial price of only 10 Lakhs, he remained unsold in the 2014 IPL Auctions. During the tenth season of the Indian Premier League, he was acquired by Gujarat Lions for thirty million rupees but did not play.

International profession

In 2004, he battled injuries and received criticism from India. Sandeep Patil, his coach, believed he had a mental difficulty coping with his injuries. In order to enhance the efficiency of his bowling action, he was also sent to the Australian Institute of Sport for biomechanical analysis. After taking 10 wickets against England in a tour match for the Board President’s XI, he was selected for the Indian Test Squad for the second Test against England in Mohali, where he made his Test debut. Patel’s debut stats were 7/97, including 4/25 in the second inning, and he displayed the ability to stroke the ball in either direction.

Munaf Patel’s Records

In his début test against England in 2006, Munaf finished with 7 wickets for 97 runs, including 4 wickets for 25 runs in the second innings.which remains the greatest Test debut performance by an Indian fast bowler.

Munaf Patel led India to a 1-run victory over South Africa with a Man of the Match performance that included career-best figures of 4/29 off 9 overs and the final wicket of Wayne Parnell.

In the opening match of the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy against England, Munaf Patel again took three wickets for eight runs, leading India to victory and earning the man-of-the-match award.

The performance of Munaf Patel at the 2011 World Cup was undoubtedly his best for the national team. where Munaf Patel, with 11 wickets, was India’s third-highest wicket-taker, trailing only Zaheer Khan and Yuvraj Singh. Munaf Patel was lauded as an unheralded hero for the World Cup victory.
