Peter Criss biography:

Early Life

In the end, while playing with bandleader Joey Greco at the Metropole Club in New York, he ended himself studying music with his hero, Gene Krupa. This led to a successful musical career, and he performed jazz and rock music with many bands in New York and New Jersey during the 1960s. Criss began playing with the band Chelsea in the late 1960s. The group released their self-titled first album in 1970, but they never recorded a follow-up and rebranded as Lips in August of 1971. He later started Kiss with Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and Ace Frehley after they broke up. Before Criss decided to go solo, they released several albums over the years.

Career

In March 1978, he dropped his self-titled debut studio album, and in 1980, he began recording “Out of Control,” his second solo album. The album was a commercial failure even though it was a fan favorite when it was first published.

Gene Simmons wrote one song for the next album, “Let Me Rock You,” which was released in 1982 but was a commercial failure as well. For the balance of the 1980s and the start of the 1990s, Criss was a member of multiple bands, the majority of which broke up in less than a year. In the early 1990s, he formed the band Criss, which featured Mike Stone, who would later play guitar for Queensryche. December 1993 saw the publication of the “Cat#1” album, while August 1994 saw the release of the “Criss” E.P.

1995, he attended the official Los Angeles Kiss Konvention, where he gave a live performance that was recorded for “MTV Unplugged.” In April 1996, Kiss announced a reunion tour with the band’s original four members at a press conference. In 1998, the band came back together and released their studio album “Psycho Circus,” on which Criss played drums. The Alive/Worldwide Tour, which ran from 1996 to 1997, was a big hit. A disagreement over a contract caused him to leave the group, and Eric Singer replaced him in 2001. Before departing the band again in 2003, he rejoined them in late 2002 and appeared on the live CD “Kiss Symphony: Alive IV.”

Personal Life

Gigi Criss is Criss’ third and current wife, having been married since May 1998. Criss has been married three times. His daughter Jenilee was born in 1981. Together with novelist Larry Sloman, he co-wrote the memoir “Makeup to Breakup: My Life In and Out of Kiss” at the end of 2012. In 2017, Criss made the decision to cease touring at the age of 71.
