Reagan was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 1994, a few years after his presidency ended. Reagan died of pneumonia on June 5, 2004, at the age of 93, after his mental capacity was gradually eroded by his illness. His wife, Nancy Davis, whom he met in 1949 as a divorcee, survived him. Before marrying Davis in 1952, he had three children from his marriage to Jane Wyman. Reagan and Davis had two children together.
