Early Life

On December 8, 1984, Sam Lowry Hunt was born in Cedartown, Georgia. His mother was a teacher, and his father worked as an insurance agent. Hunt attended Cedartown High School, where he developed an intense interest in football. In addition to being chosen as an all-purpose player for the Georgia Sportswriters Association All-State Class A.A.A. first team, he was named the 2002 Co-Offensive Player of the Year.

He played quarterback for Middle Tennessee State University from 2003 to 2004. He did not play any football in 2003, but he dressed for every game. Sam Hunt played in just six games in 2004 with one pass attempt and one yard of rush action.

Career

He enrolled at the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 2005. Before earning his business degree in economics, he majored in philosophy. He also taught himself how to play the acoustic guitar during this period. His college roommates heard some of his songs and encouraged him to try live performances, which is how his music career began.

For co-writing the 2012 hit song “Come Over” by Kenny Chesney, Hunt was honored with an A.S.C.A.P. award. In 2014, he also co-wrote two singles: Billy Currington’s “We Are Tonight” and Keith Urban’s “Cop Car.”

In September 2013, he released his first independent single, “Raised On It.” A free 15-song mixtape, “Between The Pines,” was made available on his website in October. Additionally, he co-wrote Reba McEntire’s title track, “Love Somebody.” With his album “Montevallo” and single “Take Your Time,” he becomes the first country artist since Clint Black to hold the top spot for both albums and singles at the end of the year.

Personal Life

In June 2022, Hunt tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Hannah Lee Fowler, and the couple welcomed a daughter into the world.
