2023 badminton schedule: The badminton calendar for 2023 will be crucial for Indian shuttlers. India had a memorable campaign in 2022, with a rich medal haul at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and a first-ever Thomas Cup title.
PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, HS Prannoy, and Chirag Shetty-Satwiksairaj Rankireddy of India will be eager to continue the momentum in 2023.
With the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 on the horizon, consistent performances in 2023 may be critical for Indian players’ chances of making the next quadrennial showpiece.
The Race to Paris Olympic Qualification period for badminton begins on May 1, 2023, and ends on April 28, 2024, determining who qualifies for the Summer Games based on ranking points earned during the period.
Aside from the BWF World Tour 2023 events, world championships, and season-ending World Tour Finals, Indian badminton players will compete in the Sudirman Cup and various Asian tournaments, as well as the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
The Asian Games were originally planned for 2022, but were pushed back a year due to COVID-19. The quadrennial event will take place between September 23 and October 8.
The Malaysia Masters Super 1000 tournament will take place from January 10-15, 2023, before moving to New Delhi for the India Open, which has been upgraded to Super 750 status from its previous Super 500 category.

The All England Open is scheduled for March 14-19, while the badminton world championships are scheduled for August 20-27 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Late in the season, three back-to-back tournaments will be held in India: the Syed Modi International Super 300 tournament in Lucknow and two other India Super 100 tournaments. The 2023 badminton season will then conclude with the traditional BWF World Tour Finals from December 11-15.
The number of BWF tournaments has increased from 2022 to 2023. There were 31 events in 2022, including the World Tour Finals and Super 100 events, with the number increasing to 40 in 2023. Australia, Canada, and Finland are among the new BWF World Tour hosts.
