The hostel management committee was also given an order by the administration of the supposed university that Mahatma Gandhi created in 1920 to look into the situation further and make sure that no outsiders are permitted in the hostel.
According to sources, on Monday night some hostel residents told the management that some non-university students had collected in one of the PhD student’s rooms in the boys’ hostel, which is situated on Ashram Road within the campus.
Gujarat Vidyapith expels a PhD student: Reason
The head of the hostel management committee visited the mentioned room after receiving reports that the smell of non-vegetarian food and alcohol was coming from one of the hostel’s rooms. According to Bharat Joshi, the acting vice chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapith, “He discovered that the PhD student was consuming non-vegetarian food and alcohol with his buddies who were not students at the university.
Non-vegetarian food is not permitted on the campus of Gujarat Vidyapith, including in the dormitories, and drinking is not permitted in Gujarat.
Joshi claimed that following the exposé, the student fled the dorm, and the committee head had his room shut. Joshi stated, “We have expelled the student and cancelled his admission.”
According to sources, the university has not reported the student to the police but has requested an internal investigation into how visitors who are not students are permitted to enter the dormitory grounds.
According to sources, the dormitory management committee will look into this situation and report its findings to the university’s administration. After this occurrence, the university’s standards are probably going to get harsher. However, reports claim that this is not the first instance in which the university administration has discovered instances of alcohol drinking on its hostel site.
