Indira Fellowship Program: Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, urged women to apply for the recently established Indira Fellowship Programme on Monday in order to hold a “equal spot” in politics and influence the course of the nation. The fellowship, proposed by the Indian Youth Congress, aims to bring attention to the problem of women’s empowerment.
Gandhi wrote on Twitter that women must have an equal place in society for India to be genuinely successful. The #IndiraFellowship aims to change politics while empowering women. The official website for the Indira Fellowship claims that it is the country’s first political fellowship designed solely for female candidates.
In a tweet on the project, Srinivas BV, the president of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC), wrote, “Get ready to break the chains of patriarchy and tyranny. and guide you on your path to empowerment. Sign up now for the Indira Fellowship.

Indira Fellowship Program: Rahul Gandhi’s Request
“A call to action for female politicians, professionals, and change-makers! It’s time to free ourselves from patriarchy and oppression so that we can reclaim our rightful place in politics and sit at the table where decisions are made. According to the fellowship’s website, the “Indira Fellowship is an effort in honour of the visionary leader, Smt. Indira Gandhi, to magnify the voices of women in the political sphere and lead a much-needed revolution in our society.
“Gender equality calls on women to participate in decision-making, and this fellowship attempts to remove obstacles that prevent women from entering politics. The statement continued, “Selected participants will get leadership development training, policy-making mentoring, and grassroots campaigning training from seasoned political leaders.
Enhancing Women Empowerment
“Women who are passionate about making a difference and changing the world, let’s lead the political revolution. Together, we can remove obstacles, break down barriers, and create a better future for women’s rights. To unleash the power of women in politics for a more just tomorrow, submit an application for the Indira Political Fellowship right away! The Fellowship will be a 9-month, full-time stipend programme starting in September 2023, it was added.
According to the website, there will be a two-step selection process for the fellowship programme. Candidates will first be shortlisted based on the data they submitted in their applications, and final decisions will be based on a video, telephone, or in-person interview.
Applying for this fellowship is open to women who are current or aspiring political and government leaders.
In their particular districts, the chosen fellows will be given authority. They would first be given one block to organise in the Panchayat, Urban Basti/Wards & Colleges Indira Activity Centre (Shakti Club). The position would be subsequently upgraded from assembly in-charges to district in-charges based on their performance.
According to the official website, after completing the fellowship programme, the fellows would have the possibility to join the Congress Party or be considered for local elective positions. The chosen individuals will get a monthly stipend.
