Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign: Aligarh Muslim University’s (AMU) Department of Economics recently wrapped up its “Meri Mati Mera Desh” campaign with a number of initiatives meant to improve the bonds between people and their nation. The programme, which included staff members and students, sought to promote a stronger bond with the environment and cultural heritage.
The events’ high points include: Beginning with the Pledge, the Panch Pran Pledge campaign emphasised the need of protecting the environment and cultural heritage. Field trip to the Botanical Garden: Faculty and students went on a learning excursion to the Aligarh Fort Botanical Garden.
AMU faculty delivers talk in International Conference at Bengaluru
The purpose of the tour was to educate pupils about the variety and significance of plants. Plantation Drive: To encourage student and teacher participation, a plantation drive was held on the Department’s property. The department added the names of liberation fighters who had attended AMU as students in another programme to honour them.
Along with participating in “Meri Maati Mera Desh” festivities, the Department also actively supported “Swachhata Pakhwada 2023.” A cleaning campaign, the showing of documentaries about plastic pollution, microplastics, and single-use plastics, as well as competitions for intra-university posters and slogans, were among the events.
The head of the department of economics, Prof. Shehroz Alam Rizvi, emphasised the importance of living a healthy lifestyle for improving human capital, which in turn stimulates economic growth. Additionally, he applauded the government’s “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” project and emphasised the advantages it has for the economy, particularly in terms of promoting tourism and luring foreign direct investments. Prof. Shehroz Alam Rizvi is the program’s convener, while Dr. Shirin Rais from the AMU Department of Economics is the program’s co-convener.
