National Unity Day Celebration: From October 25 to October 31, 2023, the Department of Botany at Aligarh Muslim University will celebrate “National Unity Day” for a week. A vibrant ‘Run for Unity’ event marked the beginning of the commemorative week, in which faculty, support staff, and students came together to demonstrate their unity in diversity and their deep-seated sense of belonging to the advancement of our country.
Many students, including postgraduates, research experts, and undergraduates, participated in activities including poster creation, slogan writing, and essay writing.
AMU Alumna Receives Accolades for her Research
Prof. M. Badruzzaman Siddiqui, the Department Chair, led the Unity Pledge and underlined Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel’s significant contributions to post-independence unification and the development of our national integrity.
The essay writing competition had three winners: Ms. Madiha Siddiqui in first place, Mr. Abdul Majid in second place, and Ms. Ishu Rani in third place. Ms. Sana Rais placed first, followed by Ms. Andleeb Anjum in second place, and Ms. Sahrish Aftab and Ms. Arisa Kausar sharing the third spot for poster making; Ms. Minza Husaiin placed first, followed by Ms. Arshi Parveen in second place, and Ms. Surbhi Singh in third place. Ms. Imra Mumtaz and Ms. Samreen Javed received consolation prizes.
Dr Rafat Siddiqui of AMU and Dr Riaz Ahmad, MIC at the Gas Agency, evaluated the competitions with skill.
Prof. Anwar Shahzad oversaw the program’s organisation, which encouraged each member to act with honesty and togetherness.
