Faculty members (under 45 years old) from various colleges and institutions are invited to submit applications to the Odisha State Higher Education Council (OSHEC) in order to conduct research projects with seed financing from the state government. For a research scholarship, it has also welcomed applications from students (under the age of 35).
The council will provide seed funding to 40 regular faculty members (with PhDs) from state public universities, government and government aided colleges in the state, as part of the Odisha University Research and Innovation Incentivization Plan (OURIIP) scheme, which is run by the departments of higher education and skill development and technical education.
Each faculty member would receive a seed grant of Rs 7 lakh from the government for their research. The research’s results will be displayed for a period of two years. The deadline to apply for the funding is June 30, according to reliable sources.
Faculty members are required to submit appropriate research proposals that must fill a knowledge gap in the area of study or produce data important to the state’s or country’s development priorities. According to the official sources, the study must be timely and of a sort that produces obvious deliverables in the form of novel insights, goods, or procedures.
After June 30th, we will carefully review the study proposals and choose the finest ones. Asoka Kumar Das, vice-chairman of OSHEC, announced that 40 creative research projects would be chosen and given startup financing.
Students (under 35 years old as of January 1, 2023) who pass the national eligibility test (NET) administered by nationally renowned organisations like the University Grants Commission (UGC), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in more than 35 PG subjects are also given research fellowships under the OURIIP programme.
One must have qualified for the NET on or after 2020 in order to be eligible for the fellowship this year. A permanent resident of Odisha must apply for the scholarship. There are only five fellowships available in each topic, with two reserved exclusively for female candidates. A candidate is eligible for four years of support of Rs 15,000 per month in addition to an annual contingency fund.
