Fee Hike 2022: In protest against the fee hike in Allahabad University, students on Monday took out an outrage march in the campus and created a ruckus by locking the main gate. At the same time, the fast-unto-death continued on the seventh day under the banner of Samyukta Sangharsh Samiti. The health of Manjit Patel and Rahul Saroj, the students sitting on fast, deteriorated. Both were admitted to Bailey Hospital in an unconscious condition.
The students took out an outcry march from the student union building to the main gate in front of the central library on Monday morning. The main gate of the campus was locked at around 12 noon. Sitting there, shouting slogans started the demonstration. Due to this the movement of vehicles in the premises came to a standstill. The students left at 4.30 pm and after that the gate was opened. Student leader Rahul Priyadarshi’s fast unto death continues. The students decided that the fast would continue till the decision to hike fees is withdrawn. Now other students will sit on hunger strike.
In the evening, Chief Proctor Prof. Harsh Kumar arrived to interact with the students. He asked the students to end the fast, but the students did not agree. During this, student leaders Akhilesh Yadav, Ajay Yadav Samrat, Jitendra Dhanraj, Rahul Patel, Navneet Yadav, Amit Pandey, Abhishek, Avinash, Anurag, Arvind etc. were present.
ABVP surrounded DSW’s office
The students of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad gheraoed the DSW office on 11-point demands including protest against fee hike. Shivam Singh said that the Vidyarthi Parishad will take forward the movement in a sequential manner and will take the support of all the students in this movement and make it a mass movement. On this occasion, former General Secretary of Students Union Nirbhay Dwivedi, Minister of ABVP Kashi Province Atendra Singh along with Alok Tripathi, Azad Mishra, Kartikeya Tripathi, Pushkar Mishra etc. were present.
Priyanka Gandhi’s tweet against fee hike
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has tweeted in protest against the fee hike in IVI. It is written in the tweet that 400 percent fee hike in IVIV is another anti-youth move of the BJP government. Children from ordinary families of UP-Bihar come here to study. By increasing the fees, the government will take away a big source of education from these youth. The government should immediately withdraw the decision of increasing the fees after listening to the students.
