The Librarians: The next chapter of The Librarians will include the return of a well-known face. According to our sister site Deadline, Christian Kane will return to The CW’s The Librarians: The Next Chapter as Jacob Stone. Alongside Jessica Green, the star of the newest series, he will make recurrent appearances (The Outpost).
As previously reported, a previously disclosed logline describes the focus of the TNT series’ follow-up, which was ordered by The CW in May 2023, as “a Librarian from the past, who time traveled to the present, and now finds himself stuck here.” “Upon his return to his now-museum-like castle, he unintentionally unleashes magic throughout the continent.” He is assigned a fresh group of librarians to assist him in tidying up the mess he caused.
The Avett Brothers: Sets Release Date for New Album
Green will portray Charlie Cornwall, also known as the Guardian, according to Deadline. The official character description states, “Charlie was at a low point in her life when she got the call to be a’special guardian’ on a trial basis. Charlie had been rejected by the Library to serve as a Guardian – essentially the bodyguard of The Librarian.” She has military training, so her commitment and martial arts prowess are beyond reproach. She can fulfill her dream of joining the Library permanently if she can keep the powers that be in check.
Stone has been assigned by The Library to provide mentorship and confidence building for Charlie, enabling her to achieve her goal of becoming a permanent Guardian.
The Librarian: Cast
In the Librarians franchise, the Guardian plays a crucial role. Eve Baird (played by Rebecca Romijn), Charlene (Jane Curtin), and Nicole Noone (originally portrayed by Sonya Walger in The Librarian: Quest for the Spear, and later by Rachel Nichols in The Librarians Season 4) are some of the characters that have previously served as the Guardian.
Dean Devlin, the creator of Librarians, and Green are reuniting through Green’s casting. Devlin was an executive producer of The CW’s Outpost, which aired for four seasons until ending in October 2021. The showrunner and executive producer of The Librarians: The Next Chapter, whose launch date is still pending, Devlin is back on board.

Regarding the possibility of other well-known names returning, Brad Schwartz, president of CW Entertainment, recently stated to TVLine that the show was “one-hundred percent” committed to getting a minimum of one original Librarians cast member to make a cameo and hand over the reins. And they have Kane secured now.
ER veteran Noah Wyle starred in a string of made-for-TV films that preceded the Librarians franchise. In the films Quest for the Spear (2004), Return to King Solomon’s Mines (2006), and Curse of the Judas Chalice (2008), he portrayed Flynn Carsen, the titular librarian. He then made a return appearance on The Librarians, which ran for four seasons between 2014 and 2018. Rebecca Romijn (playing Eve Baird), Christian Kane (playing Jacob Stone), Lindy Booth (playing Cassandra Killian), John Kim (playing Ezekiel Jones), and John Larroquette (playing Jenkins) were the stars of the series.
