It will instead be adapted into a three-film film series. The story that captured people’s souls will be retold on the big screen, providing a thrilling experience for series fans.
This bold shift from television to film demonstrates the series’ popularity and promises to deliver the same heart-pounding action and gripping narratives on a grander scale. The anticipation of fans of the “Warrior Nun” film series for the next installment of the trilogy is growing.
Warrior Nun’s Return as Film Trilogy
Warrior Nun receives a second chance at life. The fantasy drama series that Netflix cancelled after two seasons will reappear as a trilogy of feature films, according to executive producer Dean English.
Simon Barry, the show’s creator, revealed at the end of last month that Warrior Nun will return, and it will be more epic than you can fathom. Barry tweeted on June 28: “Today I’m pleased to announce that due to your combined voices, passion, and amazing efforts, Warrior Nun will return and will be more EPIC than ever.” “More specifics to follow! SOON! “Thank you”
However, the “more details” section took some time to come together. Shortly after Barry’s post, The Hollywood Reporter was informed by sources that Warrior Nun would not return to its original home on Netflix.
The rights holders for the programme, English’s Perfect Circle Productions and Productivity Media, continued discussions after Barry shared the news on social media.
Some information was made public on Tuesday, when English confirmed the feature film proposition in a YouTube video and an online statement on a website created to save Warrior Nun.
“I must first salute all of you loyal followers. Because of you and your incredible spirit, we will continue to work tirelessly to produce amazing stories. Certainly, you individuals render everything worthwhile. At the outset of the video, English stated, “I just wanted to express my gratitude for your support.”
“I am thrilled to declare the return of Warrior Nun as a trilogy of motion pictures. Again, a trilogy of feature-length motion pictures,” he added.
English provided few other details, observing that due to the ongoing Hollywood strikes, he was unable to discuss the creative talent involved in the film trilogy.
The Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strike is an issue that needs to be addressed. On this front, we are currently unable to make any announcements. In the video, he stated the conclusion.
The plot revolves around Ava (Alba Baptista), a young woman who is resurrected by a divine artefact placed on her back. Based on the graphic novel Warrior Nun Areala by Ben Dunn. She discovers that she is a member of the Order of the Cruciform Sword, a legendary organisation whose mission is to combat demons on Earth.
It was renewed for a second season approximately six weeks after its reasonably successful premiere in July 2020. After its November 2022 premiere, Season 2 spent two weeks atop Nielsen’s U.S. streaming charts and three weeks in the top 10 English-language TV programmes on Netflix’s global list.
In its second week, it peaked at No. 5. In December, Netflix cancelled the programme. Using social media, billboard adverts, and other strategies, Warrior Nun fans attempted to return to the programme after its cancellation.
Barry thanked these followers in his tweet announcing the resurrection. Also featured in Warrior Nun are William Miller, Lorena Andrea, Kristina Tonteri-Young, Tristán Ulloa, Olivia Declán, Thekla Reuten, and Baptista. Barry, Stephen Hegyes, and David Hayter executive produced the second season.
