Army Day is observed on April 6. It is an annual event honouring the courageous individuals who risk their lives to defend our borders and national interests around the world. A position in the military is difficult, one’s life is at stake, and there will always be an air of uncertainty. Those who choose a military career may find themselves defending their lives and the honour of their country in hostile foreign lands. Every citizen should respect the army’s function and value the efforts of every soldier. Army Day honours one of the most significant occupations in the country and their contributions to the nation.
The background of Army Day
What would it be like if there were no weapons or armies? It is a question worthy of careful consideration. We do not know what it would be like because such a world has never existed in the history of existence on Earth. The struggle for dominance began with the beginning of existence on earth. This conflict only grew more chaotic as life began to flourish and take on more complex forms.
As humans evolved, so did our methods for provoking and resolving conflict. Thus, armies were created to start and terminate conflicts. Historians believe that the Akkadian Empire was the first to have a permanent standing army. Other empires eventually caught up. European and Asian empires amassed vast armies to defend and invade neighbouring territories. Colonization and global exploration led Europeans in quest of wealth and glory to the American continent. They introduced the concept of massive armies with them to the American continent.
On June 14, 1775, the Second Continental Congress established the modern United States Army. During the American Revolution it occurred. During the early phases of the Second World War, the military’s preparedness was lacking. After Congress prohibited Defense Test Day, the Military Order of World War, led by Colonel Thatcher Luquer, created Army Day. The date was originally set for May 1 before being moved to April 6. The United States Army is a symbol of bravery, valor, and selflessness in times of conflict. They fight valiantly to defend the nation’s honour around the globe. They were instrumental in making the United States one of the most significant nations in the globe. Army Day was established to increase public awareness of national defence and appreciation for the army’s activities.
