Trekkies believe that April 5, 2063 will be a significant date in human history. In his Phoenix spacecraft, scientist Zefram Cochrane accomplishes warp drive for the first time today.
Vulcans arrive at the base near Bozeman, Montana, only a few moments after the historic launch. First Contact Day recognises Dr. Cochrane’s accomplishments. First Contact Day is all about commemorating the historic first interactions between humans and Vulcans, as you must have guessed by now. Who exactly are the Vulcans? The Vulcans are a humanoid race from the planet Vulcan, which is roughly 16 light-years from Earth. In the “Star Trek” universe, Vulcans are believed to be logical controllers who have learned to control their aggressive and violent emotions. Commander Spock, one of the most ubiquitous figures in popular culture, is also a Vulcan.
