The background of Ravenclaw Pride Day
In J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” universe, the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, of which one-fourth is the Ravenclaw House, is one of the most engaging and storied schools ever.
Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin, and Rowena Ravenclaw are credited with founding Hogwarts, according to the legend. Each House at Hogwarts is named for one of the four founders. Among the Houses, Ravenclaw was given the background that is by far the most heartbreaking.
Rowena Ravenclaw, along with three of her peers, co-founded Hogwarts. She was renowned for her intelligence and creativity in addition to her attractiveness. Apparently, this close companion of co-founder Helga Hufflepuff was also responsible for naming and locating Hogwarts. According to legend, Ravenclaw had a dream in which a porcine covered in warts led her to a lake’s precipice. She was also the architect responsible for Hogwarts’ confusing corridors and ever-changing staircases that led either everywhere or nowhere, depending on the day.
Alongside her co-founders, Ravenclaw taught at Hogwarts, valuing students with a diligent disposition and exceptional intellect. She even taught her daughter, Helena. Helena was struck by the green-eyed bug and was envious of her mother’s popularity and reputation. Helena desired for everyone to recognize that she was more intelligent and more influential than her mother.
Ravenclaw possessed a diadem that was said to enhance the wearer’s intelligence; Helena would become obsessed with this piece of jewelry. Her envy compelled her to take the diadem in hopes that it would grant her greater gifts than her mother had ever received. Her devastated mother concealed her daughter’s misdeeds from the other Hogwarts founders as she fled to Albania, refusing to reveal what her daughter had done. This gave rise to one of Hogwarts’ greatest mysteries: the Lost Diadem of Ravenclaw.
Ravenclaw did dispatch a Hogwarts student after her daughter, Roman Ungern von Sternberg, with the request that he return Helena safely. Stenberg had been infatuated with Helena for some time and leapt at the opportunity to bring her back. Helena immediately denied his request to return to Scotland and Hogwarts after he located her in an Albanian forest. Stenberg was so enraged by Helena’s refusal that he immediately murdered her, only comprehending his error after the fact. Stenberg, overcome by guilt and sorrow, turned his weapon on himself and died in the same location as the woman he adored.
Both Stenberg and Helena eventually returned as spirits, quickly making their way to Hogwarts to serve as house ghosts for their respective houses. Helena became “The Grey Lady” of Ravenclaw, and Sternberg was “The Bloody Baron” of Slytherin. People believe that Ravenclaw died shortly after her daughter’s betrayal due to a wounded heart.
