World Philosophy Day 2023: World Philosophy Day is observed annually on the third Thursday of November; this year it occurs on November 18. The inaugural Day was observed on November 21, 2002. It was designated an International Ay by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Philosophy has developed over the course of history as it explores notions such as existence, knowledge, values, the mind, language, and reason. Philosophy has undeniably influenced the societies of our current world and will continue to shape and transform those of the future. Thus, it is appropriate that World Philosophy Day was formally established by UNESCO in 2005.

The 726-page multilingual program and meeting document (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish) was published by UNESCO in 2007 as part of the Records of the General Conference, 33rd session, Paris, 2005. It was at this time that World Philosophy Day was proclaimed. With the establishment of World Philosophy Day in 2005, UNESCO underscored the criticality of philosophy for the younger generation and its capacity to motivate unbiased examination and assessment of matters in order to arrive at a conclusion. World Philosophy Day fosters the growth of autonomous, rational, and critical thought, which contributes to a more comprehensive comprehension of the world and promotes tolerance and harmony. In 2005, the UNESCO General Conference was convinced that integrating the notion of World Philosophy Day into daily life would increase the popularity of philosophy, especially as a subject for international education.

Following the inaugural observance of the day in 2002, UNESCO determined that it was crucial to establish the worldwide celebration of philosophical reflection as an official event in 2005. This yearly celebration encourages individuals from all over the world to share and participate in their cultural legacies in pursuit of genuine and harmonious synchronicity in the world.

  • (2.4.) You understand that once You leave Our servers, use of any information You provide shall be governed by the privacy policy of the operator of the site used by You.
