Grantchester TV Overview

Grantchester is a British television detective drama based in the 1950s village of Grantchester, Cambridgeshire, close to Cambridge. James Norton portrays Reverend Sidney Chambers, while Robson Green portrays Detective Inspector Geordie Keating. The programme follows the two characters as they investigate various crimes in the village and surrounding areas, while also delving into Sidney’s personal issues.

The programme is based on James Runcie’s collection of short stories titled The Grantchester Mysteries. Since its debut in 2014, the series has become one of the most popular forensic dramas on British television. It is produced by Kudos Film and Television exclusively for ITV.

The programme is set in the 1950s and follows Reverend Sidney as he investigates crimes while facing moral dilemmas. He is assisted by Detective Inspector Geordie Keating, whose approach to investigating crimes is more pragmatic. Together, they investigate both criminal cases and the town’s hidden mysteries.
