Lakhpati Didi Yojana: What is it?
A central government initiative called the Lakhpati Didi Yojana was launched to empower women financially. With the aid of self-help groups (SHGs), the government has announced that over 2 crore women in India will receive skill development training under this program. The women would receive training in trades including plumbing, LED bulb manufacturing, and drone operation and maintenance. A lady can use this to generate a steady income of at least Rs one lakh annually.

In her interim budget speech on February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that nine crore women in 83 lakh self-help groups (SHGs) are empowering and reliant on themselves to change the socio-economic landscape of rural areas. Nearly one crore ladies have already become Lakhpati Didis thanks to their success. Because of the program’s success, the government raised its goal of Lakhpati Didis from 2 to 3 crore.
How does it work?
To apply for the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, women must be members of SHGs. One can obtain application forms for the program from the nearby Anganwadi centers.
