Shirdi Airport update: Shirdi Airport, also known as Shirdi International Airport, is situated 238 kilometers north-east of Mumbai where Sai Baba attained samadhi. It is 14 km away from the main Shirdi city.
The airport has recently seen a major infrastructure upgrade. It has been lengthened from 2.5 km to 3.2 km to accommodate wide-bodied passenger aircraft.
Inauguration

Shirdi Airport Night landing
In a bid to ensure passengers are not inconvenienced, Shirdi Airport has started night landing facilities in April this year.
Devotees from all across India and the world visit Shirdi to worship at the holy site. At present, it operates 13 flights to domestic locations like Hyderabad, Delhi, Tirupati, Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam, Indore, and Chennai on a daily basis.

Infrastructure development
Earlier, the airport’s runway was 2,500 metres in length. It was later extended to its current length of 3,200. It is learnt that the Maharashtra Airport Development Company Ltd has started the construction of a new apron, keeping in mind the increasing number of passengers travelling to and from the airport.
Shirdi Airport Lounge
Although the airport may be deficient in facilities, passengers can have access to the lounge’s plush chairs, free food and drink, and Wi-Fi. It is owned by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC). The Airports Authority of India (AAI) manages the airport’s communication, navigation, and surveillance systems, as well as its air traffic control operations.

Shirdi Airport Terminal
On a land area of 2,750 square meters, the terminal structure can accommodate up to 300 passengers per day. Each week, four domestic flights depart for Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. As proposed, additional communities will be included in the near future. Currently, Alliance Air, TruJet, and Zoom Air are the three airlines that operate to and from Shirdi. Shirdi Airport’s runway is approximately 2,500 meters long, and its facility can accommodate up to four aircraft. Its runway is designed specifically for Airbus – 320 and Boeing 737 aircraft. The runway will be extended to 3,200 meters for international flights in the foreseeable future.
