Maha Navami 2022: Significance, Timings, Greetings, Wishes, and Images

Maha Navami 2022: On the ninth day of Navratri 2022 (Maha Navami), devotees worship Maa Mahagauri, the ninth form of the Hindu goddess Maa Durga.

The ninth day of Navratri or the fourth day of Durga Puja, also known as Maha Navami, is just around the corner. Navratri and Durga Puja mark the victory of good over evil. The auspicious day celebrates Maa Durga, her 9 forms (Navdurgas), and her victory over the demon buffalo Mahishasura. This year, Maha Navami falls on October 4, Tuesday. Devotees of Maa Durga worship her ninth form, Maa Siddhidatri, on this holy occasion. For Bengalis, Navami signals the end of the celebrations of Maa Durga. It is believed that Goddess Durga killed the demon Mahishasura on this day.

Maa Siddhidatri

Maa Siddhidatri usually depicts to be seated on a lotus or a lion. She has four arms, each holding a conch shell, a mace, a lotus, and a discus. However, Maa Siddhidatri, who is worshipped on the ninth day of Navratri, possesses the Ashta Siddhi. It is believed that Maa Siddhidatri bestows spiritual wisdom on her devotees and that she also destroys ignorance.

Significance

On Navami, the Mahishasurmardini avatar of Maa is also worshipped. The 9th day of Navratri is also dedicated to Maa Siddhidatri, who is the manifestation of Shakti. It is believed that the goddess blesses her devotees with siddhis (fulfillment or perfection). According to the Hindu Scriptures, it is believed that on the ninth day of Navratri, Goddess appeared in the form of Siddhidatri when all the deities were praying to the Goddess. Goddess Siddhidatri was pleased by their prayer and blessed all the deities with the boon that whenever they will be in trouble and prayed the Goddess, Maa Durga will always come to rescue them from demons. Siddhidatri means the one who fulfills all the desired wishes. Tantriks and Sadhaks worship and please Maa Siddhidatri to attain siddhi.
