1300 Stimulus Payment Claim: People in Minnesota can now get a big cash bonus because the Minnesota Department of Revenue has decided to reissue rebate checks that ended because they weren’t cashed.
On the website for the State Government, it says that 128,000 one-time tax rebates that were paid out in 2023 were not cashed and went away.
But these checks have been mailed once more to the most current address on file.
Unlike the previous refund, these checks won’t expire for two years, thereby giving individuals time to claim their windfall should they either forget to cash it or lack access to it.

The Minnesota Department of Revenue reports that it has paid 2.1 million dollars, or about $1 billion in pay, as necessary under a new law that went into effect in May 2023. This means that you don’t have to do anything if you meet the requirements.
For qualified taxpayers, the one-time rebate statute offers payouts of up to $1,300; $520 for married couples submitting a combined return with an an adjusted gross income of $150,000 or less. For everyone else with an adjusted gross income below $75,000, the payment is $260.
Each dependent claimed on your return will cost another $260; the ceiling is $780 for up to three dependents.
1300 Stimulus Payment Claim: How can I claim the $1,300 payment?
Should you satisfy all the following criteria, you qualify to get the rebate:
- For part or all of 2021, you lived in Minnesota.
- By December 31, 2022, you would have submitted one of the following returns: Minnesota
- Individual Income Tax, 2021 Form M1; Homestead Credit Refund (for Homeowners); Renter’s Property Tax Refund
- For married joint filers, your 2021 adjusted gross income (line 1 of Form M1 or Form M1PR) was either $150,000 or less; for all other filers, it was either $75,000 or less.

Your name was not shown as a dependent on another’s 2021 Minnesota income tax return. The refund check cannot be claimed by taxpayers who passed away before January 1, 2023. However, the other spouse is entitled to the full rebate should an otherwise qualified married couple file a joint return for 2021 and one spouse passes before January 1, 2023.
