Chapter 1606 VA Benefits: Personal happiness and helping a family depend on a strong education. This holds also true of armed forces personnel. Retiring from the military requires the best education available to help one support themselves.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) claims that former troops have various options for further education. Two of these options are the Reserve Education Assistance Program (REAP) Chapter 1607 and the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) Selected Reserve Chapter 1606.
Reserve members who are currently enrolled in higher education institutions or who wish to enrol are the target audience for both initiatives. Recipients are free to utilize the resources any way they see fit, including paying for books, tuition, fees, and other educational expenses.

Similarities and differences
Many characteristics of the two alternatives are comparable, including the time and qualifying conditions. Both are intended for reserve members, and interested parties may use them for a maximum of 14 years following the completion of the required amount of service.
The beneficiary’s payment and the required length of service cover the difference. Veterans who have completed at least six years of Reserve A service may apply for Chapter 1606, which offers a lesser sum. Those who have served for at least 90 consecutive days are eligible to qualify for Chapter 1607, which pays extra.
The length of time the recipient spends in school determines how much they receive in each scenario. For students enrolled full-time, 3/4-time, 1/2-time, and 1/4-time or less, there are four benefit levels.
In Chapter 1607, the applicant’s length of service is a determining factor in eligibility for benefits. Several advantages are available to individuals who have served 90-364 days, 1-2 years consecutively, and more than two years consecutively.
