July 2026 Stimulus Checks: People searching for a July stimulus check will not find a brand-new nationwide payment plan. But some Americans can still get money this month through state programs. The payments are coming from New York and Alaska, not from a new federal stimulus package. That means the money is real, but it is limited to certain residents who meet the rules. In New York, the help comes through the STAR property tax relief program. In Alaska, it comes through the Permanent Fund Dividend program.

New York Homeowners Enter Phase Two of STAR

In New York, eligible homeowners in places with school tax due dates in August or September are now starting to receive STAR benefits. Governor Kathy Hochul said the program is moving ahead in full. She said, “The STAR program provides needed school tax relief to millions of New York homeowners, and the program is now in full swing,”.

Most STAR credit payments are expected to fall between $350 and $600. Seniors who qualify for Enhanced STAR usually get more, with payments often between $700 and $1,500. The state says nearly 3 million New Yorkers are expected to get more than $2.2 billion in tax relief this year through STAR exemptions, credits, checks or direct deposits. Some people get a school-tax exemption, while others get a check or direct deposit instead. Officials also say people who want direct deposit should sign up early, because if they enroll too close to the payment date, they may still get a paper check this year.

Alaska’s July PFD Payment

Alaska is sending out another payment in July through the Permanent Fund Dividend program. This is not a new 2026 dividend. It is for 2025 and earlier applications that are listed as “Eligible-Not Paid” on July 8, 2026. Those payments are set to go out on July 16, 2026. The 2025 PFD amount is $1,000.

Who Qualifies?

To qualify for the Alaska PFD, a person must have been an Alaska resident for the full calendar year before applying and must also plan to remain an Alaska resident. The state says people should check their status through myPFD and keep their mailing address current. Alaska officials have also warned about phishing messages and say myAlaska does not send texts or emails asking users to change passwords.
