Premier League 2023: The Premier League is the only league in the globe that spends the most on transfers. During this season’s summer transfer window, clubs from the league spent a record-breaking 2,7 billion Euros on transfers, surpassing the previous year’s record. They were also responsible for 48% of the expenditure across Europe’s top five leagues.

Nearly three-quarters of the clubs have increased their expenditures this season compared to the previous year, as a result of the increased intensity of the competition. The Premier League received nearly half of its transfer fees from abroad, particularly from Saudi Pro League (SPL) clubs, which have the fifth-highest transfer spending of any league in the world this season.

Premier League 2023: Top 10 Transfers of summer 2023

Moussa Diaby (Aston Villa)

Aston Villa’s desire to return to the Premier League has been crystal apparent, and the club’s performance has improved since Unai Emery was hired. Aston will compete in the Europa Conference League this upcoming season after breaking their transfer record to acquire Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen. Since his entry into the competition, he has contributed to three goals.

Jurrien Timber (Arsenal)

The addition of the former Ajax player to Mikel Arteta’s backline provided a significant boost in quality. Due to how he maintains possession of the ball, he is extremely difficult to catch off guard. The Dutchman’s inaugural season with the Gunners is likely to be cut short due to an injury he sustained during the opening match.

Sandro Tonali (Newcastle)

Tonali’s contribution to Rossoneri’s 2021-22 Serie A championship victory suggests that he may live up to early comparisons with the legendary Andre Pirlo. Eddie Howe has added variety to Newcastle’s new-look squad, and the youthful Italian has adapted well to the competition. In his first game for the club, he scored a goal to open his rookie season.

Josko Gvardil (Manchester City)

Premier League 2023: Pepe Guardiola is renowned for his experimentation and success with those experiments. He utilized four centre-backs in the backline for the majority of the season and gave John Stones a pivotal role. In this summer’s transfer window, following his World Cup performance, Manchester City signed the Croatian. Currently, he is one of the most promising defenders in the globe.

 Andre Onana (Manchester Utd)

Onana played a pivotal role in Inter’s Champions League success last season; he was also instrumental in the club’s Italian Cup and Super Cup victories. Erik ten Hag lacked a modern goalkeeper who can play from the back, which is why Manchester United released David de Gea and made Onana their starting goalkeeper.

Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool)

Liverpool signed a versatile player who can play as a box-to-box midfielder, attacking midfielder, or right midfielder to give Jurgen Klopp’s squad a new appearance. The 22-year-old has been Liverpool’s best acquisition of the year; it took him four matches to score his first goal, which he did in the last game against Aston Villa in just three minutes; he has all the desirable traits of a Jurgen Klopp midfielder.

Mohammed Kudus (West Ham)

After losing Declan Rice and remaining dormant for the majority of the summer transfer window, the Hammers strengthened their midfield pivot by signing James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez. The Ghanaian international made his debut with Ajax during the 2022-23 season. Kudus was another significant signing made by David Moyes. The cunning midfielder has the potential to transform West Ham into a team that is more than just resilient.

Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool)

The World Cup champion contributed versatility, vitality, and output to Brighton until the end of the previous season. After Roberto De Zerbi praised Alexis Mac Allister as one of the team’s star players capable of playing for a major European club, Liverpool signed another youthful, talented midfielder following the departures of some of their marquee players. Mac Allister is undoubtedly one of the summer’s best deals.

James Maddison (Tottenham)

James Maddison was one of the players selected from the bargain bucket of relegated clubs, as he moved from Leicester to Tottenham during this transfer window. He has revolutionized the Spurs midfield and fits Ange Postecoglou’s style of play. Beginning the season with two goals and two assists in the first four games, he has been exceptional. Currently, Tottenham is in second place, just two points behind Manchester City.

Declan Rice (Arsenal)

Declan Rice’s final contribution as a Hammer was the Europa Conference League championship for West Ham. Since that match, Arsenal and Manchester City engaged in a bidding war; Arsenal won and made him the most expensive signing in the history of the club. Recently, he scored in stoppage time against Manchester United to make the tally 2-1 before Jesus made it 3-1. His impact on Arteta’s side is quite evident.
