Apple Upgrade Program Eligibility: Apple has started a new device leasing option in the United States called Apple Upgrade. This gives people a different way to use Apple products without paying the full price at once. The program is wider than the older iPhone Upgrade Program because it now covers iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches and other eligible devices. Apple says customers can lease a new device with low monthly payments and then upgrade when the lease ends.
Instead of making one big payment, buyers pay a fixed amount every month. When they are eligible, they can move to a newer device and return the old one. Apple’s website says the process is meant to be easy and flexible, with terms that fit the product chosen. The company is offering 12- and 24-month lease options for iPhone and Apple Watch, while Mac and iPad leases can run for 24 or 36 months.

How does the program work?
Apple says the monthly price depends on the product, storage size and other specs. A basic iPhone will cost less each month than a more expensive MacBook Pro or a high-storage iPad Pro. The company shows the price during checkout so customers can see the payment before they decide. Apple also says the starting lease prices can be as low as:
- $17.99 a month for iPhone
- $11.99 for Apple Watch
- $24.99 for Mac
- $11.99 for iPad
Unlike with normal purchases, the device remains in the lease system for the full term. When the lease time ends, the customer can upgrade to a new device instead of staying with the same one until it is fully paid off. Apple says the upgrade can happen with no upgrade fee once all monthly payments are completed, though an earlier upgrade is possible for a fee under the lease rules.
Who can Apply?
Not everyone can join right away. Apple says applicants must go through credit approval, and the new program uses Klarna for approval in many cases. The company says people can apply online or in an Apple Store and get a fast decision. Apple’s own terms also say a valid U.S.-issued credit or debit card is needed for enrollment, and the program is only for eligible customers in the United States.

Apple also says some buyers may be able to lower monthly payments by trading in a current device when they first sign up. In some cases, AppleCare+ protection can be included or added as an extra option. For people who change phones or laptops often, this may feel easier than selling an old device every year. But for someone who keeps an iPhone or Mac for many years, buying outright may still cost less in the long run.
