Reactivate Disabled Uber Account: Uber lets people book rides through its app and use other services like Uber Eats. Your Uber account keeps your basic details such as your name, phone number, email and payment method. You need these details to sign in and use Uber.

Sometimes an Uber account can become deactivated or restricted. This can happen because of account security problems, suspected fraud, policy violations or other issues. In some cases, you may also be unable to sign in because of a forgotten password, an old phone number or having more than one Uber account.

Why Is Your Uber Account Disabled?

There isn’t just one reason why Uber may restrict an account. Uber says accounts can be restricted when they don’t follow its Terms and Conditions or safety rules. Fraud is also one reason an account may be deactivated. This can include things such as creating fake or duplicate accounts for fraudulent use or trying to abuse Uber’s payment or promotion systems.

For drivers, the reasons can also include problems with background checks, serious driving violations, identity issues or sharing a driver account with another person. Uber says driver accounts shouldn’t be shared and duplicate driver accounts aren’t allowed.

A login problem doesn’t always mean your account has been disabled. Uber says users may also have trouble because of an app problem, internet issue, outdated app, two-step verification issue or because they have more than one account.

1. Check Your Uber Account and Try to Sign in Again

Before asking Uber to reactivate the account, first check whether the problem is really a deactivation.

Open the latest Uber app and try signing in with the phone number or email linked to your account. You can also try signing in on the Uber website. Uber recommends updating the app, restarting your phone and checking that your internet connection is working properly. You can also try signing in from another device.

If you forgot your password, use Uber’s password reset option instead of creating another account. Uber’s Help Center currently provides a password reset route for users who can’t sign in.

You should also check whether you accidentally created more than one Uber account. Uber says duplicate rider accounts can cause login and account problems. In some cases, Uber may help combine accounts so you can keep your trip history, credits or rewards.

Do not make a new duplicate account just to get around a restriction. Uber’s current policies say improper duplicate accounts aren’t allowed, especially for drivers.

2. Ask Uber to Reactivate the Disabled Account

The easiest way to get a disabled Uber account back is to contact Uber Support. You can use Uber’s reactivation page and start a chat with the support team. They may ask you some questions to check that the account belongs to you.

You may need to share your name, registered phone number and email. Uber can also ask about your recent trips or orders. You may need to give the last 4 digits of the card linked to your account. Never share your full card number.

Tell Uber clearly what happened and when you found out that your account was disabled. If you think it was disabled by mistake, let them know and ask them to check your account again. Uber’s chat support is available from 9 AM to 9 PM IST.

Information Uber May Ask

  • Your full first and last name can be requested.
  • The email address registered with the Uber account may be needed.
  • The phone number connected to the account may also be required.
  • Uber may ask about your last 2 trips or orders to help verify that you own the account.

You may also be asked for the last 4 digits of your debit or credit card saved in Uber. Never enter your complete card information in a support form.

Uber can also ask you to confirm your email address before a support agent contacts you.

What if You Can’t Sign in at All?

You can still use Uber’s Help Center to find account login support. Uber has a specific reactivation page for riders whose accounts are deactivated.

If the issue is only a login error, first update the Uber app and check your internet connection. Restart your phone and try the Uber website or another device. If the same problem continues, use Uber’s account support chat or form.

Can You Make a New Uber Account With Another Number?

Older guides sometimes suggest making a new Uber account with a different phone number and then changing the number back. This isn’t a good method to depend on now.

Uber’s current support information says duplicate accounts can create problems, and its policies don’t allow improper duplicate accounts. If your original account is restricted, it’s better to ask Uber Support to review or restore it instead of trying to bypass the restriction with another account.

Tips to Avoid Losing Access to Your Uber Account

For Drivers

  • Drive safely and follow local traffic laws. Keep your vehicle in good condition and make sure your driver and vehicle documents stay valid.
  • Don’t share your driver account with another person. Uber says driver account sharing can lead to suspension and permanent deactivation in confirmed cases.
  • Don’t use fake information or someone else’s documents. Uber checks identity information and can take action when account details don’t match the person using the account.
  • Avoid fraudulent activity such as manipulating trips, abusing promotions or creating fake accounts. Uber says these actions can lead to account deactivation.

For Riders

  • Use your real account details and keep your phone number and email updated.
  • Pay any outstanding ride charges and keep your payment method active. Uber says an unpaid balance or a rejected payment can stop you from requesting another ride even when the account itself isn’t disabled.
  • Don’t use fraudulent payment methods or try to misuse Uber promotions.
  • Be respectful to drivers and follow Uber’s safety rules while using the service.
