PlayStation Classics Accidental Leaks:PlayStation appeared to confirm that Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare will be included to the PlayStation Plus Premium Classics library in a since-deleted post on X. Despite the removal of the disputed post, individuals who viewed it left several comments.
It was also included for a limited period of time in a PlayStation Access video, which has subsequently been reuploaded without the game. The PlayStation UK branch that posted the incorrect content is PlayStation Access, their official YouTube channel.
The game’s fans are hoping that this error means the game will eventually be included to the Classics catalogue. A new horror game called Alone in the Dark: A New Nightmare was first released in 2001 for the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Dreamcast, PC, and Game Boy Colour. According to the Guinness Book of Records, it was the first 3D survival horror game ever made.

In August 2022, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive revealed that they will be remaking Alone in the Dark. The game was once scheduled for release on October 25, 2023, but it was postponed until January 16, 2024, to prevent a chaotic period, and then again until March 20, 2024, to avoid a crunch around Christmas.

It is possible that the problem occurred during this second rescheduling. It’s possible that the tweet was written in advance and left unaltered when the game’s release date was altered if the beloved Alone in the Dark: A New Nightmare was scheduled to be published concurrently with the release of Alone in the Dark 2024. In order to maintain the closeness to the new game, PlayStation could have decided to postpone the release of Alone in the Dark: A New Nightmare in the Classics catalogue.
Naturally, this is conjecture, and PlayStation has not commented on the error. Nevertheless, given the revised release date for Alone in the Dark 2024, it appears more likely than not that the Classics title launch of Alone in the Dark: A revised Nightmare was executed at the incorrect moment.
To take your mind off of Alone in the Dark, PlayStation Plus will be releasing 14 games in January.
