Travis Scott was born Jacques Berman Webster II on April 30, 1992, in Houston, Texas. At the age of six, he moved to Missouri City, a middle-class suburb southwest of Houston, to reside with his parents. Prior to that, he lived with his grandmother in South Park, Houston, a high-crime area. After graduating from Elkins High School, he enrolled at the University of Texas at San Antonio but left after his sophomore year to pursue a career in music.

In 2008, Scott and his longtime friend Christ Holloway established the musical duo “The Graduates” and released their debut EP on Myspace without a title. In 2009, he and classmate OG Chess created the group “The Classmates” and released two projects together. After leaving college, he moved to New York City and began working alongside his companion Mike Waxx.
