Chief Minister of Vijayawada, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, will disburse Rs.703 crores for financial aid to students under the Jagananna Vidya Deevena (JVD) programme. The quantity will be distributed by the chief minister at an upcoming public meeting in Kovvur, East Godavari District. The fee reimbursement amount for the quarter of January-March 2024 will be deposited into the bank accounts of the mothers of 9,500,000 pupils. After dispersing the funds, the CM will also address a public assembly in Kovvur.
“We have spent Rs.14,912.43 crores on ‘Jagananna Vidya Deevena’ and ‘Jagananna Vasathi Deevena’ over the past four years, including the release of unpaid dues from the regime of Chandrababu Naidu,” stated education minister Botcha Satyanarayana. He stated that the state government introduced ‘Jagananna Vidya Deevena’ with the intention of providing poor students with access to higher education.
According to him, the government has been reimbursing the total fee directly into the bank accounts of the mothers of students enrolled in ITI, Polytechnic, degree, engineering, medicine, and other courses, without regard to the number of eligible children in a family.
According to him, they have also launched “Jagananna Vasathi Deevena” to cover the board and lodging expenses of students. The state government is providing annual financial aid in two installments of Rs 20,000 to students enrolled in degree programmes, engineering, and medicine; Rs 15,000 to Polytechnic students; and Rs 10,000 to ITI students.
Revitalising Higher Education
State government launched programmes such as ‘Jagananna Vidya Deevena’ and ‘Jagananna Vasathi Deevena’ that reimbursed students for tuition, boarding, and accommodation.
State government has revised the curriculum to include a 4-year UG Honours degree, as well as job-oriented modules and 30% Skill Development Courses, in order to increase the employability of students and meet the requirements of the industry.
Online Verticals have been incorporated into the curriculum so that students can acquire the necessary skills online.
By mandating a 10-month practicum, the government is preparing students to meet industrial demands.
MoU signed with Microsoft to train 1.62 million students in 40 Skill Development Courses; 1.20 million students have already received training in Microsoft Technology.
Wednesday, the chief minister will disburse Rs. 703 billion under the Jagananna Vidya Deevena.
