The PURSE concept focuses on near real-time aerosol source apportionment and suggests mitigation options in line with the National Clean Air Programme, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC).
The PURSE grant will allow CU Jammu to conduct the first real-time aerosol source-apportionment in J&K in order to understand its implications on the local climate and human health as well as for developing solutions for Air Pollution Mitigation in the North-Western Himalayan Region. Near real-time aerosol source apportionment studies are limited to very few places in India.
The project’s coordinator, Dr. Pawan Kumar, who is in charge of a group of seasoned researchers and specialists, has shown a great deal of enthusiasm for the planned study. “With the help of this grant, we have never-before-seen opportunity to fully comprehend the effects of atmospheric aerosols.
