Eight IIT Jammu Faculty Members Awarded Prestigious SIRE-2023 Fellowship: 22 July, Jammu: Eight faculty members from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu have been awarded the Science & Engineering Research Board’s (SERB) prestigious International Research Experience (SIRE) Fellowship -2023 Fellowship, which honours exemplary research abilities and an unwavering commitment to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
Official IIT Jammu spokesperson: “The distinguished recipients of the SIRE-2023 Fellowship are Drs. Anup Shukla, Sudhakar Modem, Arun Kumar Verma, Ankur Bansal, Roshan Patil, Vijay Kumar Pal, Rimen Jamatia, and Shanmugadas K. P.”

Sharing information about their expertise, he stated, “Dr. Anup Shukla’s research focuses on the Interdependency and Resilience of Power and Communication Systems, a crucial area with significant implications for modern infrastructure and technology.
“Dr. Sudhakar Modem’s intriguing research focuses on maximising battery energy efficiency to ensure secure and robust mobile communication in the presence of possible eavesdroppers.”
“Collaborating with Dr Sheldon Williamson from the Ontario Tech University, Canada, Dr Arun Kumar Verma aims to pioneer a Fast Charging Solution for widespread Electric Vehicle (EV) Adoption,” he said, adding, “Dr Ankur Bansal, embarks on a research mission to provide 360-degree coverage for a dense 6G wireless communication network by utilising low-power spectrally-efficient technologies and shall be visiting the esteemed University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland, to
Dr. Vijay Kumar Pal, another SIRE-2023 Fellowship recipient, will investigate the nanofabrication of metal nanoparticles with Carbon allotropes for Hydrogen storage.
In contrast to Dr. Suprem Ranjan Das of the Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering department at Kansas State University, USA, Dr. Pal’s research bears great promise for the advancement of hydrogen storage.
Dr Rimen Jamatia will collaborate with Prof. Zdenek P. Bazant of Northwestern University in Illinois, USA, to investigate the constitutive modelling of quasi-brittle materials under non-uniform passive confinement, a field with significant structural engineering applications.
Dr. Shanmugadas K.P. will travel to the prestigious Technical University of Munich in Germany to collaborate with Prof. Chiara Manfletti, Chair of Space Propulsion.
A spokesperson for IIT Jammu stated, “These eight faculty members have not only brought immense pride to IIT Jammu, but they have also elevated India’s reputation within the global scientific community.”
