Innovation Lab in India: The IT giant IBM announced on Tuesday that it is expanding its partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in order to assist more of its mutual clients in operationalizing and reaping the benefits of cutting-edge technologies, such as generative artificial intelligence (AI). Additionally, IBM unveiled a new Innovation Lab at its Bengaluru Client Experience Centre.
Prototypes and proofs of value that aim to help accelerate innovation across industries such as Banking and Financial Services, Automotive, Manufacturing, Energy and Utilities, Travel and Transportation, and Healthcare, among others, can be tested in the lab, which is open to clients from all over the world, according to the company.

The lab is set up with experience zones dedicated to various technology domains supported by machine learning and generative AI.
“Before truly implementing and scaling solutions on AWS, clients can now experiment with the newest cloud-enabled technologies, including generative AI, in our lab,” said Anuj Malhotra, Vice President and Senior Partner, Growth Platforms, IBM India Client Innovation Centre for IBM Consulting, in a statement.
“Our teams at the lab, made up of industry and technology experts from AWS and IBM, will help build quick prototypes that solve client technological and business challenges,” he continued.
Furthermore, the business said that IBM is among the first AWS Partners to utilise Amazon Bedrock and has already amassed substantial experience with AWS’s generative AI services, such as Amazon SageMaker and Amazon CodeWhisperer.
For clients wishing to implement generative AI, AI knowledge and a thorough understanding of AWS capabilities are essential, and IBM is currently connecting mutual clients with experts in both areas.
By the end of 2024, IBM Consulting hopes to have 10,000 consultants skilled in AWS generative AI services thanks to this news.
They will be able to participate in a partner-only programme that offers training on the most effective use cases and customer engagement strategies for AWS generative AI services.
According to Chris Niederman, Managing Director, Global Systems Integrators at AWS, “our customers are increasingly looking for the technical support and AI expertise they need to build and implement a generative AI strategy that drives business value from their entire cloud value chain.”
