Yamuna Floods: As the water level of the Yamuna river in Delhi reached 208.46 metres on Thursday morning, flooding the capital city, the chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, issued a new appeal to the public, imploring them to avoid the affected areas.

In this emergency situation, the government is actively involved in evacuation efforts, and Kejriwal has called for cooperation. The Delhi flooding has become a political battleground, with Kejriwal blaming Haryana for discharging too much water from the Hathnikund barrage. In a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Kejriwal requested that the federal government regulate the movement of water from Haryana into Delhi.
Wednesday, despite the fact that it has ceased raining in Delhi, the Yamuna water level surpassed the all-time high mark. The water released from Haryana, according to Kejriwal, has caused flooding in the city, but he expects the situation to ameliorate within two to three days. Thursday, water infiltrated areas such as ITO and Civil Lines, worsening the flood situation in low-lying regions.
As the Yamuna’s water level rises, the river overflows onto adjacent roads, posing a significant threat. For their welfare, citizens are strongly advised to avoid these routes.
Efforts are being made to evacuate people from densely populated flood-affected areas, and the cooperation of residents in these areas is essential. During such disasters, the preservation of human life is of utmost importance.
During this critical moment, the citizens of Delhi are urged to unite and support one another in any way possible. Schools in flood-affected areas of Delhi, both public and private, have been ordered to remain closed until further notice.
Kejriwal has requested that volunteers, councillors, and MLAs visit relief camps and provide assistance to those afflicted by the floods.
