The Qur’an, which is Islam’s holy book, is where most of what we know about classical Arabic comes from. The text is the first important written record of the Arabic language and tells us a lot about how the old language was put together. Arabic is spelled from right to left, like other Semitic languages. It also has sounds that aren’t found in English or other languages.
