The History of International Chefs Day

In 1984, the International Culinary Institute (ICI) was founded in an effort to improve standards within the culinary industry and promote international cuisine. In line with this mission, ICI established International Chefs Day as a way to celebrate the importance of chefs and highlight their contributions to society.

On this day, ICI organized events and activities in over 50 countries around the world. The response from the global community was overwhelming and it soon became apparent that International Chefs Day was here to stay.

Today, International Chefs Day is celebrated annually on October 20th. It is an opportunity for chefs all over the world to come together and celebrate their craft. In addition to being a time for chefs to connect with one another, International Chefs Day is also a chance for them to give back to their communities through cooking demonstrations, food drives, and other charitable initiatives.
