National Letter Writing Day 2023: Greetings, reader We haven’t written in such a long time, but thankfully we have no excuse today because December 7 is National Letter Writing Day! Over the centuries, letter writing served as the primary means of communication for people who lived far apart. However, its use has decreased due to the rise of smartphones, the Internet, and telephones.
Now would be a great time to revisit the basics and write a letter by hand. However, isn’t it a unique idea to take thirty minutes to sit down and write a letter to someone by hand? It is missed by us. You don’t think so? Reply as soon as possible. adore us.
What to do on this day
Purchase some high-quality paper.
Although it’s possible to order paper online, why not visit a stationary store and purchase some high-quality paper in person, in keeping with the analog theme of the day? You can purchase your own envelope or perhaps make one; there are many different textures and weights available. If the address label is visible to the post office and they can determine where to send it, there’s not much of a craftiness limit!
Draft a letter.
Perhaps you should get in touch with some old acquaintances or choose a political figure with whom you have a deep emotional connection. See the post office for stamps featuring issues that are close to your heart, such as protecting our marine life or bees. Alternatively, significant Black history figures can be found in the new Black Heritage series. Remember to Google the proper salutations if the letter is formal. (His Excellency!)
Keep in mind the wax seals.
If you really want to wow your recipient, you can purchase some vintage sealing wax and a seal bearing your initials to make it appear as though they are receiving a letter from the Count of Monte Christo. A little sealing wax adds the perfect finishing touch to make your letter even more memorable. We love how creative and expressive you can be with it.
Our passion for National Letter Writing Day
You are forced to reflect before writing.
We’ve lost the ability to reflect before speaking and then convey a thought or sentiment in a flowing cursive hand because it’s so simple to go back and edit in the days of the backspace key. For instance, students in Finland are offered the option to learn to type instead of handwriting in the classroom.
It’s a chance for reconnection.
In the past year, how many of your hundreds of friends on social media have you truly become close to? Because it gives you the opportunity to select a few of those people and send them something via mail that will truly stand out among the noise, we adore National Letter Writing Day. Giving someone your whole attention seems strange in this day and age, but that’s exactly what makes National Letter Writing Day so wonderful. It provides an excuse for you to establish a unique bond!
Awesome letter writing paper and stamps
Big businesses now make up the majority of mail users in the United States, which means a lot of us are losing out on the tactile joys of writing a letter on quality stationery and mailing it with a stamp. Stamps are a fun way to use the postal service to express your unique style—from celebrating significant moments in our nation’s history to honoring notable presidents, wildlife, and sports.
