Tripura Foundation Day 2023: Tripura came into existence on January 21, 1972. The formation of the state of Tripura is commemorated annually on January 21 with the celebration of Statehood Day. Tripura is one of India’s seven sister states. The capital of the northeastern state is Agartala. During the British Empire, the Manikya dynasty ruled Tripura. After independence in 1949, the Tripuri Kingdom joined India. Tripura, a former princely state, was merged into the Indian Union in October 1949 and became a state on January 21, 1972.
Only one major highway (National Highway 8) connects Tripura to the rest of the country, which places it in a geographically disadvantageous position. Due to its geographical isolation, the state’s economic development is hampered. Nonetheless, according to the 2011 census, Tripur is one of the most literate states in the country, with an 87.75 percent literacy rate. Tripura’s statehood day celebrations include a variety of cultural events. This year, however, festivities will be muted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tripura Foundation Day: History
Tripura has a total land area of 10,491 km2 and is the third-smallest state in India. It shares borders to the north, south, and west with Bangladesh, and to the east with the Indian states of Assam and Mizoram. Approximately 30% of Tripura’s population consists of Scheduled Tribes. The largest groups among the 19 tribes are the Kokborok-speaking tribes.
The state capital of Tripura is Agartala. Due to the fact that only one national highway connects the state to the rest of India, the state’s economic progress has been minimal. With a literacy rate of 87.75 percent, it is also one of the most literate states in India.
We wish everyone a joyous Tripura Foundation Day in 2023!
