Astro’s Playroom is a beautiful game that looks like it would work well with the DualSense controller that comes with every PlayStation 5. Because of this, players can expect to feel every jump, bounce, and roll thanks to Sony’s new controller’s haptic input. Oh, and Astro’s Playroom is free for everyone who owns a PlayStation 5.
Demon’s Souls

Demon’s Souls is the best PS5 game right now, there’s no way around it. For the most part, Demon’s Souls is a remake of the same-named From Software PS3 game. It looks like the kind of next-generation action RPG you’d hope for. Demon’s Souls is a must-have for Dark Souls fans and game fans in general. It’s hard, beautiful, and you can play it for hours and hours. You can’t get much better than this PS5-only game.

Destruction AllStars

Destruction AllStars is a weird mix of Destruction Derby and Overwatch. It adds brutal vehicle battles and competitive hero multiplayer to PlayStation 5, which is something many of us didn’t know we wanted. Keep an eye on this one—Destruction AllStars was also on the PlayStation Plus schedule for February 2021.
Final Fantasy 16

Final Fantasy 16 is very different from Final Fantasy 15, which was an open-world game with lots of bro-trip antics. Instead, it takes the series back to more familiar ground by putting the player in the middle of a global war between nations over powerful Crystals and the titanic Eikon (also known as summons). But that’s about all the similarities there are. Because it was made from the ground up with the PS5 in mind, Final Fantasy 16’s darker fantasy story is much more adult. It also has a reworked real-time combat system that lets players directly control summons for the first time in the series’ history, which makes for some truly titanic battles. Final Fantasy 16 looks like it will be one of the best games in the series’ history, and it will be a PlayStation-only game for a long time.
God of War: Ragnarok

Ragnarok is the best follow up to God of War. God of War: Ragnarok is a carefully iterated masterpiece that beautifully stays true to the spirit of 2018’s PlayStation 4 Game of the Year while making meaningful improvements to its already great combat and progression systems. It’s a meaty and deeply emotional epic that easily secures its place as one of the best games on PS5 and a surefire Game of the Year candidate (spoiler: it won overall GOTY for 2022 along with other awards).
Gran Turismo 7

Some of the weaker parts of previous games are carried over into Gran Turismo 7. However, the game’s single-player campaign is back to being as good as it used to be, the graphics have been greatly improved, and most importantly, the game is filled with a deep love for cars. Gran Turismo 7 is not only one of the best driving games for the PS5, but it’s also one of the best PS5 games you can buy. No questions asked.
Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West not only adds to the story of one of PlayStation’s most recognizable icons, but it also makes PlayStation fans feel good about the studio’s well-deserved reputation for making beautiful first-party single-player games. Horizon Forbidden West is the follow-up to Horizon Zero Dawn. It is a beautifully made open world adventure game where our main character, Aloy, fights not only a variety of dangerous machines but also a new and very dangerous human enemy. In every way, Horizon Forbidden West is Horizon Zero Dawn 2.0. While I might have liked more variety in the open world activities, Guerrilla Games has still made a great game that deserves to be among the best that PlayStation Studios has to offer.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the best game that Insomniac Games has ever made. It has so many emotional highs that you will want to jump out of your chair and cheer at the screen in a way that not many games have been able to do recently. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a great action adventure game with lots of amazing visuals that gives players their ultimate superhero dream. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a toweringly polished, unmatched masterpiece that redefines the superhero video game genre as a whole and is better than the first two games in every way you can think of. It has surprising heart and delicate moments that balance beautifully with the kind of blockbuster superhero bombast that the game’s creator has refined to a fine art. This is the thing you’ve been looking for.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales

It’s a stand-alone journey about the same size as Uncharted: People who play Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales can take on the role of Peter Parker’s superpowered student and spin, thwack, and smash their way through New York City’s bad neighborhoods. A continuation of Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS5, which came out in 2018 and was thought to be one of the best PS4-only games ever? Please say yes.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the only game on this list that really makes the most of the PlayStation 5’s lightning-fast SSD. Players again take control of the title lombax and his robot friend, but this time they are falling quickly through gaps between dimensions. There are times when you might be riding a future hoverboard over a huge cyberpunk city and times when you might be speeding down a snowy mountain. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a great game that brings the long-running series back to its best.
Returnal

Returnal is a beautiful third-person shooter with roguelike features. It comes to PS5 from Housemarque, the same company that made Resogun for PS4 when it came out in 2013. As a pilot stuck on an alien world that is always changing, players are stuck in a time loop where they keep dying and then resurrecting as they try to find a way to get off the cursed planet. Returnal is one of the best PlayStation 5 exclusives, to say the least. It has some of the most beautiful graphics that Housemarque has ever made.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure

Thanks to getting his own game, LittleBigPlanet’s Sackboy goes on a big trip on PlayStation 5, and what a great time he has! One of the best platform games on PS5 or anywhere else is Sackboy: A Big Adventure, which has good characters and a story, as well as pixel-perfect platforming and a lot of characters. It’s important not to miss Sackboy: A Big Adventure if you like platform games.

The Last of Us Part I is one of the best games on PS5, and it’s especially good for people who need accessibility, those lucky enough to have not yet played The Last of Us, or anyone else who wants to fully experience Naughty Dog’s masterpiece.
