What is the release date for The Crown Season 6?

We anticipate that season 6 of The Crown will be available on Netflix in November 2023, as Netflix has not yet announced a release date. Keep this article open to view the updated release date as soon as Netflix announces it.

The sixth season of The Crown will commence production in August 2022. The show’s creator, Peter Morgan, decided to revert to his original plan and split the final season into two sections in order to provide more context for the series’ plot. Season 6 will be the final season of The Crown.

“As we began to discuss the themes for the fifth season, it became evident that to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story, we must return to the original plan and produce six seasons.” Netflix will make all four seasons of The Crown available. On November 9, 2022, Netflix will premiere season five of The Crown.

What Has Changed Since the Death of the Queen?

The death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022, brings a new perspective to the extant episodes of The Crown as well as the final two seasons. While the media debated her legacy in the wake of her recent death, The Crown reclaimed its position in Netflix’s global top 10. People log in or rewatch episodes to learn more about Queen Elizabeth II and her 70-year reign.

Due to the recent passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, production of the sixth season was suspended on Friday, September 9, and again on Monday, September 19, during her funeral. “Our production for the day has concluded,” a Netflix representative told Variety on September 9. Tomorrow, there will be no shooting in observance of The Queen’s funeral.

“The Crown is an ode to [the deceased Queen]. I have nothing to contribute at this time other than silence and respect,” Peter Morgan, creator of The Crown, paid tribute to the late Queen in an email obtained by Deadline. He continued, “I anticipate that we will cease filming out of respect as well.”

It was believed that the death of the Queen would delay the premiere of season 5, but Netflix verified at its Tudum fan event that the new episodes will debut on November 9th.

The cast of The Crown season 6

Since its premiere, the cast of The Crown has changed every two seasons, with the primary characters – including The Royal Family, prominent politicians, and top courtiers – being replaced at the beginning of each season.

However, there may be some alterations between The Crown seasons 6 and 5 among the younger cast members. For instance, the royal heirs will be adolescents during season 5, but adults by the end of season 6. In addition, a now-familiar character will not make her debut until The Crown is nearly complete.

New Characters for Season 6 of The Crown?

In season 6 of The Crown, Meg Bellamy, 19 years old, will make her professional debut as Kate Middleton. In April 2022, she was selected from numerous applicants who responded to an online casting call. On 2 September, the entertainment website Deadline Hollywood announced her casting alongside the actors selected to portray Prince William.

According to The Guardian, Bellamy, a Berkshire native with experience in amateur theatre, school productions, and filmmaking, received an A* in Drama at St. Crispin’s School in Wokingham. In addition, she has performed at Legoland Windsor, which is located near Windsor Castle, the Queen’s residence.

The sixth season of The Crown will feature a “young actor” playing the role of Kate Middleton, according to a notice for impending auditions posted by Netflix. This specific portrayal would depict her during her 18th year prior to becoming Duchess Catherine. The notice stated that they were seeking an actor who resembled Kate’s youthful appearance during her university years.

In March 2022, a casting call for a young actor to portray Prince William in Netflix’s upcoming production was broadcast on social media. The age requirement for the role was 16 to 21 years old, which would encompass the prince’s late adolescent years from 1998 to 2003.

The producers of the show have cast two different actors to portray Prince William at various stages of his existence. In 1997, Rufus Kampa, age 15, will portray the younger version of Prince William as he copes with the demise of his mother, Princess Diana. Ed McVey, 21 years old, will represent young William as he begins his studies at the University of St. Andrews, where he met Kate Middleton.
