Margashirsha Purnima Significance
According to religious beliefs, one can receive the blessings of Lord Vishnu by placing the soil (Mitti) of basil roots (Tulsi) on their body and then taking a bath in a holy river, lake, or pond. Giving on this day yields returns that are thirty-two times more lucrative than giving on other Purnimas. It is also known as Battisi Purnima for this reason. It is very beneficial to worship the god Satyanarayan and to listen to the Satyanarayan Katha on this auspicious day. Following Katha, delivering food and goods to the underprivileged or Brahmins on Margashirsha Purnima also appeases God Vishnu.
The moon controls every element on the earth when there is a full moon. As a result, another name for it is the “Day of Divinity.” In addition, it is considered to be the final day of the holiest month in the Hindu calendar. The texts claim that giving on this specific day is very beneficial. Meditation and a Ganga river bath are also thought to be good on this day.
To receive blessings on this auspicious Margashirsha Purnima holiday, one should worship Lord Shiva and Sri Hari Vishnu. On this day, it is stated that the moon was irrigated with nectar. Therefore, it is appropriate to worship the Moon on the occasion of Margashirsha Purnima.
