15 Largest Credit Unions in Florida: Florida’s credit union scene is among the biggest and most active in the country. Several credit unions hold billions in assets and work with large member bases.
For a 2026 ranking today, a fair match comes from the NCUA’s Call Report for the first quarter of 2026. That filing uses figures that credit unions reported for March 31, 2026. The NCUA states that its Call Report database tracks core items like total assets, membership counts, loans and other important financial figures for federally insured credit unions.
Based on that Q1 2026 data, Suncoast Credit Union is Florida’s largest credit union by assets, followed by VyStar Credit Union, MIDFLORIDA Credit Union and Space Coast Credit Union.

Best Credit Union Savings Rates in August 2026: Where to Earn the Most
1. Suncoast Credit Union
Suncoast Credit Union is comfortably the largest credit union headquartered in Florida. The Q1 2026 NCUA-based ranking puts its assets at approximately $20.54 billion, with nearly 1.39 million members.
The credit union has continued to grow during 2026. Its own website reported $20.92 billion in assets and 1,414,878 members as of July 31, 2026, meaning its balance sheet had grown further since the March quarter-end data used for the statewide ranking.
You also need to keep an eye on another change. Suncoast said it plans to merge with Launch Credit Union. If the deal goes through, the new group should top $21 billion in assets and reach about 1.4 million members. The merger is expected to take effect in late 2026.
2. VyStar Credit Union
VyStar is based in Jacksonville. It is the No. 2 credit union in Florida by size. Q1 2026 figures show about $13.80 billion in assets and just over 1 million members.
VyStar itself describes the institution as the second-largest credit union headquartered in Florida and reports assets of more than $14 billion in 2026. It operates across Florida and Georgia.
3. MIDFLORIDA Credit Union
MIDFLORIDA ranks third by the Q1 2026 asset figures, at approximately $9.82 billion, with about 493,840 members.
The Lakeland-based credit union has been growing rapidly. Its own February 2026 announcement said it had more than $8.82 billion in assets and over 489,000 members at that point.
4. Space Coast Credit Union
Space Coast Credit Union, headquartered in Melbourne, ranks fourth in the Q1 2026 ranking, with approximately $9.29 billion in assets and more than 707,000 members.
SCCU describes itself as Florida’s third-largest credit union on its own website, but that description reflects a different/current measurement point. Its 2026 materials say it has more than $9 billion in assets and more than 685,000 members.
5. FAIRWINDS Credit Union
Orlando-based FAIRWINDS Credit Union rounds out Florida’s top five, with approximately $5.29 billion in assets and more than 252,000 members in the Q1 2026 NCUA-based ranking.
6. Campus USA Credit Union

What Do the 2026 Figures Highlight?
The clear point is how wide the gap is between Florida’s two largest credit unions and the rest of the market.
Suncoast’s $20.54 billion in Q1 assets was roughly $6.7 billion higher than VyStar’s $13.80 billion. Meanwhile, the third- through fifth-largest institutions ranged from about $5.29 billion to $9.82 billion.
Florida’s credit unions are also seeing continued loan growth. In the NCUA’s Q1 2026 state-level data, Florida recorded 4.5% median year-over-year loan growth, ranking fourth among states and territories on that measure. Median asset growth was 2.8%, while median deposit growth was 2.5%.
Nationally, the credit union system also expanded during the period. The NCUA reported that federally insured credit union assets increased 4.9% year over year to $2.48 trillion in Q1 2026, while membership reached 145.8 million.
Are These The Largest Credit Unions In Florida By Assets Or Members?
The difference is important. The list above is sorted by total assets. It is not based on how many members a credit union has. A credit union can have a smaller crowd yet still hold more assets. That can happen if members keep bigger balances or borrow more through its lending options.
Take two cases. Space Coast Credit Union showed up as fourth on the assets list. It also had over 707,000 members. MIDFLORIDA was third by assets but was under 500,000 members, based on Q1 2026 figures.

Will The Florida Credit Union Rankings Shift Later In 2026?
That is possible. Credit unions share financial updates each quarter. So the ranks may move when new NCUA Call Reports appear. Right now, the NCUA shows Q1 2026 as the newest quarter on its public quarterly summary page. Also, some deals may reshuffle the standings. Suncoast plans to merge with Launch Credit Union. After the merger finishes, the combined group is expected to top $21 billion in assets.
