By 1906, numerous similar organisations had affiliated with the Club, spawning a national movement. In 1956, the Boys Club of America was granted a Congressional Charter.
The Club’s mission was expanded in 1990. Congress changed the name of the organisation to Boys & Girls Clubs of America and renewed its charter. 2006 marked the organization’s 100th anniversary, commemorating a century of providing “hope and opportunity to young people across the country.”
