World Gratitude Day is annually observed on September 21. This day is intended to remind us of the significance of expressing gratitude and appreciation. Understandably, we can get wrapped up in our busy lives and forget to express our appreciation for those around us. Many people believe that once you commit a straightforward act of kindness for someone, you don’t need to manifest that kind of kindness repeatedly. However, doing so makes the world a better place. Ultimately, it is your universe, and you must inhabit it!
The background of World Gratitude Day
Today, appreciation is a worldwide and personal practice that we can all use to enhance our lives; however, it dates back to 1965. Sri Chinmoy, a spiritual leader and meditation instructor, conceived of World Gratitude Day. It was conceived during a Thanksgiving dinner in the meditation chamber of the United Nations.
At the dinner, Chinmoy proposed a global celebration of gratitude. Each person at the dinner vowed to host an annual event in their home country on this new holiday, and they spent the remainder of the evening discussing how to spread the word. The following year, in 1966, numerous nations observed the first annual World Gratitude Day on September 21, and the day has been observed annually since then.
In 1977, the Spiritual League, a group of Chinmoy’s followers who operated the meditation room at his New York headquarters, requested the passage of a resolution recognizing World Gratitude Day. During the special ceremony, representatives from the Headquarters were in attendance to honor Chinmoy.

WORLD THANKSGIVING DAY ACTIVITIES
Compose and mail thank you messages
One of the simplest ways to express gratitude is by composing letters, cards, or emails to significant others. You can write about anything that comes to mind, such as your fondest memories together, what they taught you, how much they mean to you, etc. Don’t fret if it’s not eloquent; just be sincere and straightforward.
Be grateful to everyone
Today, express gratitude to everyone you encounter and inform them that it is World Gratitude Day. Appreciate the various individuals who contribute to your existence. It could be the mailman, telephone technician, trash collectors, or even the chef and waitstaff at your favored restaurant.
Be appreciative of yourself
You are not flawless, but you can be grateful for your positive qualities. Record all of your positive qualities and actions. They need not be significant. They may be basic or intricate. If no one appreciates you for who you are today, it is because you were kind and grateful to yourself.
5 ADVANTAGES OF GRATITUDE
Simply writing in a gratitude journal for five minutes per day can increase our overall contentment by 10%.
When we are grateful, we are less likely to be envious of others; grateful individuals experience a greater range of emotions and are more resilient in the face of adversity.
People with a greater sense of gratitude have access to a larger social network, more acquaintances, and stronger relationships.
People who are more grateful for what they have tend to be less dissatisfied and more aware of opportunities when making economic decisions, resulting in better decisions and less pressure to pursue instant gratification.
Try counting your blessings daily to lower your blood pressure.
