Texas SNAP June 2026: Texas does not send SNAP money to every household on the same date. The payment day is tied to the SNAP EDG number, which is the case number used by HHSC. Under the current Texas schedule, benefits are staggered across the month from the 1st through the 28th, based on the last two digits of that EDG number. That is why two families can both get SNAP but still see money land on very different days.

The Lone Star Card is the card Texas uses for SNAP food benefits. HHSC says it works like a debit card at stores that accept SNAP. USDA also says SNAP can be used for groceries such as fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, dairy, bread, cereal, seeds, and plants that grow food.

What you Cannot Buy with SNAP

What you Cannot Buy with SNAP, Snap food limits

SNAP is for food, not for everything in the cart. Texas and USDA say benefits cannot be used for alcohol, tobacco, vitamins, medicines, and other nonfood items. USDA also says SNAP cannot pay for hot foods eaten in the store, or for foods and drinks that contain controlled substances.

Texas had also added a new rule on April 1, 2026. From that day, SNAP recipients in Texas will not be allowed to buy candy or sweetened drinks with Lone Star Cards. HHSC posted that change on its website and in its updates to SNAP users.

How to find your Texas EBT deposit date?

For Texas SNAP households certified after June 1, 2020, the payment date depends on the last two digits of the EDG number. The schedule works like this:

  • 04 to 06 paid on the 17th
  • 07 to 10 paid on the 18th
  • 14 to 17 paid on the 20th
  • 21 to 24 paid on the 22nd
  • 28 to 31 paid on the 24th
  • 35 to 38 paid on the 26th
  • 39 to 41 paid on the 27th
  • 46 to 49 paid on the 27th
  • 93 to 95 paid on the 27th
  • 42 to 45 paid on the 28th
  • 50 to 53 paid on the 28th
  • 96 to 99 paid on the 28th

For Texas SNAP households certified before June 1, 2020 the payment date depends on the last digit of the EDG number:

  • 0 paid on the 1st
  • 1 paid on the 3rd
  • 2 paid on the 5th

If your deposit is late

A late deposit does not always mean benefits are gone. The best first step is to check the balance on the Your Texas Benefits app or website, or call the Lone Star Card Help Desk at 800-777-7328. HHSC also says help is available through its Lone Star Card contact line.

How much a Texas household can get

The SNAP amount depends on household size, income, and allowed expenses. For fiscal year 2026 in the 48 states and Washington, D.C., the USDA says the maximum monthly benefit is $298 for one person, $546 for two, $785 for three, $994 for four, and $1,789 for eight. Each extra person adds $218. These amounts apply from October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026.
