VA Stimulus Check 2024: Social Security’s cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) will bring additional benefits to veterans across the country in the coming months. For the months of February and March, Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits are distributed on March 1 and April 1.
In addition to the 3.2 percent COLA, beneficiaries can look forward to payments of up to $3,600, which are intended to help veterans afford basic necessities and manage long-term healthcare expenses.
Veterans who qualify for booster payments?
Veterans with disabilities resulting from their military service are entitled to tax-exempt payments, with the exception of those who received a dishonorable discharge. VA benefits require meeting certain criteria. Survivors of veterans can also receive monthly payments, with additional amounts provided for veterans who have lost limbs during their service.
The veterans’ and survivors’ pension program may also be able to offer benefits to veterans with lower incomes. Earlier this year, the VA expanded access to healthcare for veterans exposed to hazardous toxins during their military service, allowing them to enroll earlier than previously permitted in VA healthcare.
Veterans who served in the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan after 9/11 are eligible to receive benefits. Veterans who have been exposed to toxins during training or active duty may also qualify for VA benefits, regardless of whether they have previously received VA benefits.
