“A turning point in my career was when I won the 2015 World Championship in Karting,” Sargeant reminisced regarding his karting career. “It was a simple way to conclude my karting career and transition into the realm of formula racing.” Clearly, this facilitates the formation of a strong team when beginning formulas. At that tender age, I was somewhat more naive, and I simply had this expectation that I would always prevail. Everyone wants to succeed, but I may have been too ignorant of how difficult it is to achieve victory until now. I now understand that success requires considerable effort. The subsequent affective state is entirely dissimilar. “I now feel considerably more satisfied with my endeavors as a result of the considerable effort I invested in it.”
The journey of Logan Sargeant to Formula One
Sargeant ascended to Team Motopark in 2016 to compete in the Formula 4 UAE Championship. Despite failing to secure any victories, his consistent performance managed to secure him a spot on the podium in second place overall. The 2017 F4 UK Championship followed, and consistency once again proved crucial as he finished in third place with two victories and ten podiums. At this juncture, it became evident that the young American possessed potential; consequently, he was extended an invitation to join Formula Renault’s R-ace GP team for a season, to qualify for the Formula Renault Eurocup and NEC. He maintained his impressive performance in both competitions, securing fourth and fifth-place finishes, respectively.

Sargeant made his Formula 3 debut with Carlin in 2019. Despite finishing nineteenth overall, his third-place finish at the Macau Grand Prix demonstrated that he was a driver worth watching, given the challenging city circuit. While I did not win, it was probably one of my most successful weekends as a rookie. “How has it impacted my career?” I’m not sure, but I honestly hope to experience this again in the future. “The sensation you get when you reach those speeds is truly unique.”

Sargeant, who had transitioned to Prema by 2020, had achieved two victories on six podiums, which contributed to his overall third-place finish. However, peril lurked just beyond the horizon. The young American was compelled to continue competing in Formula 3 for an additional season due to budgetary limitations; consequently, he joined the less successful Charouz team. “I believe that helping propel a struggling team forward radically altered the course of my career, as it ultimately led to my acceptance into the Williams Driver Academy,” Sargeant said of his exploits with Charouz. “I had no doubt in my ability to prevail, as I had done the year prior.” Therefore, in my opinion, it was sufficient to assist them in their haste to acquire the vehicle in the most favorable condition possible within the limited time we had available.”

Following a brief appearance in GT3 in 2021, Williams announced he had joined their Driver Academy. At the end of the season, he was invited to take part in Williams’ F1 Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi. After joining HWA Racelab, his brief tenure in Formula 2 was unremarkable, prompting his move to Carlin for 2022 F2. Later, he won the Red Bull Ring and Silverstone after finishing second in Baku.

Following successful FP1 performances with Williams in Mexico, the United States, and Brazil, his F1 license became contingent on his aggregate championship finish. After securing a fourth-place finish, Williams declared Sargeant to be Alex Albon’s companion in Formula One for the 2023 season.
